What broad bolts do
They give +100 ranged strength and no accuracy, the same strength as adamant bolts. To equip them you need 55 Slayer and 61 Ranged, and they fire from the rune, dragon, dragon hunter and Zaryte crossbows. That makes them the default bolt for a rune crossbow on Slayer tasks, and the reason turoth and kurask tasks stop being a melee chore.
Against bosses with real Defence, enchanted diamond or ruby bolts do more work per shot. Broad bolts win on cost, not damage.
Three ways to get them
- Slayer Rewards shop: 250 bolts for 35 Slayer points, unlimited stock at every Slayer master.
- Fletch them: unlock Broader Fletching for 300 points, buy unfinished broad bolts from any Slayer master for coins in packs of 10, then add feathers at 55 Fletching for 3 xp per bolt.
- Buy them: the Grand Exchange, which is what most players do once they price their Slayer points properly.
With 76 Fletching and the same unlock, broad bolts plus amethyst bolt tips make amethyst broad bolts at 10.6 xp each.
What moves the price
Supply comes almost entirely from players training Fletching, since unfinished bolts are sold for coins with no limit worth worrying about. That keeps the price tied to the cost of the unfinished bolts plus feathers, so a spike in feather prices often shows up here a day later. Demand is steady Slayer use and Ranged training, with no single boss behind it.
The high alch value is 33 coins, so alching is never the play. If the Fletching calculator shows broad bolts as your cheapest xp, buying under the instant sell price and selling the finished bolts back is how fletchers keep the cost per xp low. Compare them with rune arrow prices if you use a bow instead, and see the ranged gear progression for when to move on.
