What the dragon harpoon does
It needs 61 Fishing to use and catches fish 20% faster than a regular harpoon. At Tempoross the bonus drops to 5%. With 60 Attack you can wield it, which unlocks Fishstabber: a special that uses 100% energy for a visible +3 Fishing boost. Levels above 99 still count as 99, so the boost is worthless once you are maxed. It also fits in a tackle box.
Where it drops
| Source | Rate |
|---|---|
| Wyrms, on a Slayer task | 1/2,000 |
| Wyrms, off task | 1/10,000 |
| Tempoross reward pool | 1/8,000 per roll |
Wyrms need 62 Slayer and live in the Karuulm Slayer Dungeon. The task rate is five times better than off task, so save your kills for task. At Tempoross every reward permit is a roll at the harpoon alongside the fish and pet chances.
Upgrades that use it up
An infernal harpoon combines the dragon harpoon with a smouldering stone. It needs 75 Fishing and 85 Cooking (no boosts) and cooks one in three fish for half Cooking xp. A crystal harpoon is made at a singing bowl with 120 crystal shards and a crystal tool seed at 76 Smithing and 76 Crafting. Both destroy a dragon harpoon each time, which pulls supply off the market.
What moves the price
Demand follows Fishing activity: new fishing content, Fishing-heavy updates and Tempoross popularity. Supply comes from wyrm tasks and Tempoross permits. The buy limit is 5 and high alchemy pays 33,000 coins, far below the GE price. If you only fish casually, the fishing calculator shows how much time the 20% bonus saves. Compare it with a dragon pickaxe if you are choosing which skilling tool to buy first, and see the Fishing training guide for where it pays off most.
