Stats and special attack
The dragon scimitar needs 60 Attack and completion of Monkey Madness I. It has +67 slash, +8 stab and +66 strength at a 4-tick speed, which makes it the strongest scimitar in the game.
Its special, Sever, costs 55% energy and rolls against slash defence with 25% more accuracy. In PvP a successful hit switches off the target's overhead protection and blocks it for 8 ticks, which is why PKers still carry one.
Where to get one
| Source | Rate |
|---|---|
| Daga's Scimitar Smithy, Ape Atoll | 100,000 coins, always in stock |
| Thermonuclear smoke devil | 1/107 |
| Scorpia | 1/128 |
| Demonic gorillas | 10/500 |
| Master clue casket | 1/30.3 |
| Zombie pirates | 1/378 to 1/1,260 |
You need to be in monkey form to trade with Daga unless you have finished Monkey Madness II. The scimitar cannot be smithed. Scorpia and the zombie pirates are the two most common sources of the ones that end up on the GE.
Why the price barely moves
Drops keep a steady flow coming in, alchers absorb any oversupply at 60,000, and nobody pays much over 100,000 when Daga sells them. That narrow band makes it a reliable high alch item on days when the GE price dips. The buy limit is 70 every four hours.
Whips and hastae cannot train Strength on their own, so the scimitar stays in many banks for Strength training even after an upgrade. The Arkan blade from The Final Dawn has very similar stats and costs nothing, which has trimmed demand from players who have that quest done.
Upgrades
At 70 Attack the abyssal whip is the usual next step for Attack and Defence training and Slayer. Further up, the Ghrazi rapier and other end-game swords take over. Below 60 Attack, the rune scimitar does the same job for less.
