The Eye of Ayak is the fastest magic weapon in the game, attacking every 3 ticks. The box above shows the latest instant buy and sell for the uncharged Eye, the margin after tax and the buy limit of 8. Before buying, compare it with 10,000 times the demon tear price: that is what the staff breaks down into, and it sets a floor under the price.

Stats and max hit

It needs 83 Magic and gives +30 Magic attack and a +2 Prayer bonus. The built-in spell has a max hit of your Magic level divided by three, minus six: 21 at 83 Magic and 27 at 99, before gear. The low max hit is offset by the speed, and it ranks as the second strongest powered staff, ahead of the sanguinesti staff and behind only the top staff from Raids 3.

Soul Rend special attack

The special costs 50% energy, attacks on a 5-tick timer with double accuracy and a 30% higher max hit, and lowers the target's Magic Defence by the damage dealt until it dies. That makes it a good opener on tanky magic-weak targets before switching to your main setup.

Charges

It runs on either demon tear charges (one per cast) or 2 death runes plus 1 chaos rune per cast, not both at once, so the death rune price sets most of the rune cost. It holds up to 50,000 charges, and an uncharged or tear-charged Eye picks up 10 to 20 charges each time you beat the Doom. Uncharging returns what is left.

Drop rates by Doom level

It drops from the Doom of Mokhaiotl from level 3 onwards. The chance improves the deeper you go:

Doom levelEye of Ayak
31/2,000
41/1,350
51/810
71/720
9+1/540

The same boss drops the avernic treads at matching rates from level 4. It arrived with Varlamore: The Final Dawn in July 2025, and new copies only enter the game through these kills, so the 1 year chart shows the trend better than the 24 hour view.

Questions players ask

What level of the Doom drops the Eye of Ayak?

From level 3 of the Doom of Mokhaiotl, at 1/2,000. The rate improves with each level and reaches 1/540 at level 9 and beyond, so strong players push as deep as they safely can.

How do you charge the Eye of Ayak?

Use demon tears (one per cast) or death and chaos runes (2 death and 1 chaos per cast). It holds one charge type at a time, up to 50,000 charges, and gains a few charges for free when you kill the Doom.

Can you dismantle the Eye of Ayak?

Yes. The uncharged Eye breaks down into 10,000 demon tears. That gives the GE price a rough floor, since sellers will not accept much less than the tears are worth.

Eye of Ayak or sanguinesti staff?

The Eye attacks faster and has a Magic Defence draining special. The sang heals you and costs less. For raw damage the Eye wins; for long trips where healing saves food, many players still use the sang.
