| Yew | 60 | 175 | Steady seller, popular AFK tree |
| Blisterwood | 62 | 76 | Darkmeyer, fast for its level |
| Camphor | 66 | 143 | Needs 45 Sailing |
| Magic | 75 | 250 | Slow, valuable logs |

Some sense of the scale involved: 35 to 99 on teaks is 153,083 logs (149,349 with a full outfit), 60 to 99 on yews is 72,919, and 90 to 99 on redwoods is 20,232. Bloodwood, added in June 2026 behind The Blood Moon Rises, does not fit the log model at all. It yields sap rather than logs and pays about 30 xp a chop, so plan it by hours rather than by count.
How Forestry changes the count
Forestry, added in 2023, means the log count is now a ceiling rather than an exact figure. While you chop near other players and someone has a forestry kit, events spawn around you: rising roots, struggling saplings, the friendly ent, pheasants, poachers, beehives and more. Each event pays Woodcutting xp that scales with your level, so on a busy world you reach your goal with fewer logs than the table shows. On teaks without tick tricks, events can add something like 20,000 xp an hour.
Two more Forestry rules affect your hours. Every other player chopping the same tree gives you an invisible +1 Woodcutting boost, up to +10, which raises your success rate. And trees now fall on a timer that starts with the first chop, so a crowded yew does not vanish under you after one log. Events also pay anima-infused bark, which buys the lumberjack outfit, the log basket and the felling axe handle from the Forestry shop.
Felling axes, rations and the logs you do not get
A felling axe with Forester's rations gives 10% more xp per action than a normal axe of the same tier, and it stacks with the lumberjack outfit. The trade-off is that one action in five gives no log at all. For xp that is a clear win; for money it is a small loss, since you bank fewer logs per hour. Felling axes are two-handed and made by combining the handle with a normal axe on an anvil. A rune axe is the usual base for players without a dragon one.
Picking a tree for your goal
Fastest: tick-manipulated teaks from 35 (2-tick runs from about 78,000 xp an hour at 35 to 215,000 at 99), or bloodwood from 77 at 130,000 to 210,000 with a dragon felling axe. Sulliuscep on Fossil Island from 65 is a strong middle option after Bone Voyage.
Most AFK: redwoods in the Woodcutting Guild from 90, or yews before that. Long-lasting trees and a bank close by mean very few clicks per hour.
Money: the value column does the work here. Redwood logs and magic logs pay best per log, while yews come much faster, so compare the two by value per hour rather than per log. Most trees can also drop a bird nest, which adds a little on top. The Sailing trees (camphor, ironwood and rosewood) are worth a look once your Sailing level allows. The woodcutting training guide puts all of this in level order.
