How the lap count works
Each course pays a fixed amount of xp for a full lap. The calculator takes the xp between where you are and your goal, divides it by that figure and rounds up. A fall throws you off the course and wastes the lap, so near a course's level requirement your real number of attempts runs a little higher than the count.
Some worked numbers: Canifis gives 240 xp a lap, so 40 to 60 takes 986 laps. Seers' Village at 570 xp needs 814 laps from 60 to 70. The Ardougne course, at 889 xp a lap, needs 8,649 laps to take you from 90 to 99, which is why so many players move to the Sepulchre long before then.
Rooftop courses and xp per lap
| Course | Level | XP per lap | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Draynor Village | 1 | 120 | Most players quest straight past it |
| Al Kharid | 20 | 216 | Long lap, decent marks |
| Varrock | 30 | 270 | Slow laps for the xp |
| Canifis | 40 | 240 | Best marks until 60, no 20-level penalty |
| Falador | 50 | 586 | First big jump in xp per lap |
| Seers' Village | 60 | 570 | Much faster with the Kandarin hard diary teleport |
| Pollnivneach | 70 | 890 (1,016 with hard Desert Diary) | Diary also raises mark spawns |
| Rellekka | 80 | 780 (920 with hard Fremennik Diary) | Diary also raises mark spawns |
| Ardougne | 90 | 889 | Elite Ardougne Diary adds extra marks |
Two diaries change what a lap is worth. The hard Desert Diary lifts Pollnivneach from 890 to 1,016 xp, and the hard Fremennik Diary lifts Rellekka from 780 to 920, so with either one done your lap count on that course falls by roughly 12% and 15%. The Kandarin hard diary works differently: Seers' stays at 570 a lap, but the Camelot teleport drops you next to the start, and that alone adds around 10,000 xp an hour.
Marks of grace and the 20-level rule
For most players the marks matter as much as the xp. A full graceful set costs 260 marks, and recolouring it costs another 90. Once your unboosted level is 20 or more above a course's requirement, marks there spawn 80% less often, so a level 75 player on Falador is still getting xp but very few marks. Canifis is the odd one out: a coding quirk means the penalty never applies there, which is why people farm graceful on it well past 60.
Spare marks still have a use. Grace trades 10 marks for 100 amylase crystals, and each crystal makes one dose of stamina potion, so every mark carries a gp value that follows the stamina market. On Ardougne, the elite diary gives a 25% second roll whenever the first one misses, which puts it at the top of the marks per hour list once you reach 90.
Faster than rooftops: the Sepulchre and the wyrm course
The Hallowed Sepulchre in Darkmeyer is the fastest Agility xp for most accounts. It needs Sins of the Father, and its floors open at 52, 62, 72, 77 and 87. Rates run from about 45,000 xp an hour on floor 1 to close to 100,000 on floor 5, but it is hands-on work with traps that punish lazy clicking. A Sepulchre run is not a lap in the rooftop sense, so compare it by xp per hour rather than by count.
The Colossal Wyrm course in Varlamore has a basic route from 50 and an advanced route from 62. It is slower than the Sepulchre and less tiring, and between 62 and 90 it is one of the best sources of marks. Other courses worth a row in your plan are the Werewolf course from 60, Prifddinas from 75 (crystal shards from its portals), and the Wilderness course from 52, which is quick but puts you in front of player killers.
Getting onto a course early
A summer pie boosts Agility by 5, and course requirements accept boosted levels. That lets you start the Wilderness course at 47 or the Werewolf course at 55 and skip the slowest stretch of the rooftop route. Mark spawns always check your real level, so boosting does not dodge the 20-level rule. For a route that covers every band in order, see the Agility training guide, and the OSRS xp table shows exactly how far apart any two levels are.
